Flowers for Algernon

Yesterday I just read this book called Flowers for Algernon. Its actuelly quite a nise boke ebout a persen hu has an IQ of sixte plas.( so sorry for the bad spalleng, im influnsed by Gordon's bad spalleng...) The story is about a 37 year old man, Charlie Gordon, with an IQ of 60+. He decides that he wants to be "used" for an experimental surgery, which will, if successful, triple his IQ. He is subsequently asked to do a progress report almost daily.
Initially, Charlie was a laughing stock to his "friends" who were workers at charlie's workplace too. His friends constantly made fun of him and played practical jokes on him. Charlie, who did not understand other's feelings then, played along with their jokes, not knowing what they actually thought of him. Nevertheless, he was vaguely understood by others. he was also regularly tested on doing a maze with a special white mouse called Algernon, who had also taken the same IQ tripling surgery.

However, after his life changing surgery, charlie begins to learn things he never thought he would ever learn before. He began to undestand complicated formulas and many languages such as german and french. Becoming smarter by three times changed Charlie Gordon's life for the better in some ways. But it destroyed him, socially. From the simple, blank, man that charlie was, he became a intellectual giant, which was barely understood by even the brainiest scientists. Gradually, everyone seemed to fear him. His coworkers at the factory eventually signed a petition to make him resign. His social life was a mess. Gordon eventually made friends with Algernon and was a second companion to him, the first being his weekly progress reports, which he relied on to pen(or rather type) his emotions down. Things were not going too well...
However, the surgery's side effects soon acted up. Both Algernon and Gordon's minds were detoriating rapidly. Algernon soon died, leaving Gordon very depressed. his mind too, was detoriating quickly. Day by painful day, Gordon's knowledge decreased, making him cooped up in his room all day, refusing to see anyone. In short, ho became emo. Eventually, Gordon became the same old person he used to be, blank and simple. Not wanting others to feel sorry for him, Gordon eventually left New York in the hopes of starting his life anew. In his final progress report, he reminds the scientists to put flowers on algernon's grave if they have a chance.....

After reading this book, i feel really affected by Gordons spelling and start to spell badly( dont ask me why) Neverthe less, it is a touching story, full of emotion.If you have not read it yet, i strongly advise you to do so. It is an excellent read.
