Poolside Cafe
Dread... ... ... Now the Poolside Cafe; The Hwa Chong Student Lounge; The "slack cafe"... Has closed down...... What are we to do? Must we submit to this new rule, and cause ourselves major inconveniences by wasting time walking to the canteen and queing?
I don't feel good about this... The Poolside Cafe is the Alumni's restaraunt, isn't it? Why and How then, do they have the authority to ban us from it? As far as i know, the Poolside Cafe's main source of income is from students. If we are forced to boycott it, then they will lose a lot of money!
This feels like deja-vu... Just last year, there had been a splendid curry rice stall in our school canteen which attracted long queues everyday... it had probably been around for 7 or 8 years...
Then one day, the principal annouced that there would be a healthy school regime, where only healthy food was to be sold... and with that, the stall, beloved by the students... had to close down......
This all seems so familiar...... like a dream.... but i know that sooner or later, someone will stand up and fight.. for The Poolside Cafe...

Hey Ming Xia,
one thing we both have to admit is that the food sold there is really unhealthy. There is also this irony where it says 'Recommended for students to not consume so much fried food' when what they sell only has fried food among them!
However, it is so convenient and necessary for a quick bite as our classrooms are so freakin far from the canteen.
So, as for the person to stand up... Why not you??

The food there is really unhealthy and expensive and not tasty. Most of the food there is fried but its location is quite convenient for people in Block D.
Furthermore, most students who go there during recess buy tidbits to eat. Thus, they do not eat proper meals which is unhealthy. So we should not have a quick bite at the poolside.
However, sometimes the queue at the canteen is longer than usual and we are in a rush. We used to resort to eating at the poolside. Also, sometimes when we take our meals late (3pm onwards) there is hardly any food left in the canteen. Now, with the ban on eating poolside cafe food in place, it has brought about inconvenience to many people.
I propose that they allow students to eat at the poolside cafe but make sure that the poolside cafe only sells healthy food to students and save the unhealthy ones for the public on weekends.

I agree with Tze Han and Samuel. If they choose to set up a restaurant in a school, then they must abide by the rules set by MOE. Anyway it is not an alumni restaurant. It is just a restaurant that is opened in the alumni building.
